Three wheelers for disabled soldiers

Soldiers who were rendered disabled in the humanitarian operations have been given three-wheelers.

A programme to dish out three wheelers to soldiers who were rendered disabled during the humanitarian operations was implemented with the aim of facilitating their day to day activities. It is a welfare project mooted by the Ranaviru Seva Authority. Three wheelers were distributed among 100 soldiers under the patronage of President Rajapaksa. The distribution took place at the Defence Ministry. Already three wheelers have been provided to 700 disabled soldiers under this programme. The three wheelers are being given to disabled soldiers spanning throughout the country, based on the recommendations of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

The aim of this exercise is to enable the disabled soldiers to lead successful lives maintaining a dignified stature in society. The soldiers who received three wheelers expressed their gratitude for the enormous efforts made by the President to help lead a better life.

Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Chiefs of the Armed Forces, thje IGP, and many Senior Officers of the Armed Forces were present on the occasion.
