The Federation of Sri Lankan Local Government Authorities (FSLLGA) is attempting to increase the representation of women and youth in the upcoming Local Government Elections.
The Federation has launched a program to encourage women and youth to contest the upcoming elections and engage in social service as active participants in society. The Federation has organized a workshop from December 3 to 4 at the Green Grass hotel in Jaffna. Over 22 young Pradeshiya Sabha members from each province will participate. It will give a novel experience for the Northern youth on practical politics leading them to be true representatives of their communities.
Another objective of conducting the workshop in Jaffna is to take the Northern Youth leadership into the mainstream of democracy and serve their community.
The representatives who will participate at the workshop will be decided by the respective political party leaderships.
The FSLLGA is the central organization of Local Government bodies in the country.
