Minister S.B. Dissanayake has said that a programme has been launched to improve the standard of the Universities.
He stressed that their aim is to transform the children who begin their higher education to be of international level. He said that the old distorted culture in the universities is being completely eliminated. He noted that currently there are 83 thousand students studying in universities. He said the Government expects them to attend lectures and study hard while participating in extra curricular activities. He said that they should welcome the newcomers.
The Minister was speaking at a felicitation ceremony for teachers at the Pannaratana Central College in Gelioya. The felicitation ceremony was organized by the Welfare Society of the school.
