Convener of the Inter-University Students Federation Udul Premaratne who was arrested for allegedly damaging property of the Higher Education Ministry after entering its premises has been further remanded. Investigations have been launched into the conduct of two other persons.
When case was taken up today, the Cinnamon Gardens Police said the suspect cannot be released on bail as two more suspects are yet to be arrested. Colombo Chief Magistrate Rashmi Singapulli considering the submissions ordered the suspect to be remanded till 10th of next month. The Court permitted the Cinnamon Gardens Police to arrest Udul Premaratne for allegedly causing damage to the Higher Education Ministry. He was arrested on his return from a special meeting held at the “Sirikotha”.
