The Bonsai Exhibition opens in Colombo today. The Sri Lanka Bonsai Association is the organizer.
The Exhibition is an annual event. It is being held for the 18th occasion. A world of Bonsai will be exposed at “Reflections 2010 Living Images”. The Bonsai Trees are plants in trays, a Japanese art form using miniature trees grown in containers. The opening of the Exhibition took place under the patronage of Japan’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka Kunio Takahashi. The word Bonsai simply means a plant grown in a shallow container. It does not define what type of plant or what sort of container. Many Bonsai plants and stones are on display at this Exhibition. Prizes were also presented for the winners. Giving views on the occasion, the Japanese Ambassador said that he was determined to firm up the existing relations between his country and Sri Lanka. The Exhibition at the Colombo Art Gallery ends on Sunday.
