The Government is launching a special programme to encourage exporters.
The Government has launched a programme to give cash incentives to the exporters who continued their exports in 2008 and 2009 despite the global economic recession. 110 exporters were presented with the cash incentives at the Ministry of Industry and Commercial Affairs under the patronage of Minister Rishath Bathiyudeen. A total 262 million rupees was distributed amongst the exporters with 2.5 million rupees for each. The Ministry says that the Government has granted 1.2 billion rupees so far to encourage exporters. Another 493 million rupees is to be distributed among selected exporters. Secretary to the Ministry Tilak Kollure was amongst those who participated.
