Arrangements are in place for the release of results of the election to the youth Parliament. Polls to the Youth Parliament were held today.
The Elections Bureau of the National Youth Services Council said that polls commenced at 321 Centres countrywide. There were 1395 candidates in the fray. Youth from the Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities contested the polls representing all Divisional Secretariat Divisions, other than the Puthumathalan North Divisional Secretariat Division. More than 300,000 registered members with around 10,000 Youth Clubs spanning throughout the country were eligible to exercise their franchise. The prime aim of this effort is to bring to national level leaders at the regional level. The Ministry of Youth Affairs it is an impetus to build ethnic harmony.
