A special programme has been implemented to provide training for police officers on giving protection to victims of crimes.
The training programme is being implemented by the Ministry of Justice and Legal Aid Commission. The first phase of the programme was launched in the Northern and Eastern provinces. Training Workshops have been conducted for officers of nine police stations in Batticaloa. Director of the Centre for Protect Victims of the Legal Aid Commission Pumie Kumari said that the aim of the programme was to educate police officers on details to be considered when giving legal protection for crime victims.
