The S.C. Department of Corrections is searching for a minimum security inmate who walked away from Walden Correctional Institution Sunday morning.

Larry Coles Jr., 27, walked away from the unfenced minimum-security institution at 4340 Broad River Road about 5 a.m.

Coles started serving a five-year sentence for trafficking methamphetamine in July 2009. He was convicted in Florence County.

Coles is a black male with brown eyes and black hair. He stands 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs about 155 pounds. He has a "puff" tattoo on his upper right arm and an "L" tattoo on his upper left arm. He was last seen wearing shorts and a long sleeve T-shirt.

The Department of Corrections is working with local law enforcement on search and apprehension efforts.
