It has been planned to declare the Mullaitivu Forest as a Wildlife Sanctuary.
It had been a stronghold of the terrorists for nearly three decades. The Ministry of Agrarian Services and Wildlife will declare the Mullaitivu forest as a Wildlife Sanctuary. It spans over 100,000 acres.
Minister S.M. Chandrasena said initial steps had been taken in this respect. It is believed that the proposed wildlife sanctuary would be a solution for conflict between the humans and elephants in the surrounding areas.
