President Rajapaksa has left for London on a three-day official visit.
President Rajapaksa had been invited by the Oxford Union and the Sri Lanka Society of Oxford University. He is due to address the Oxford Union on the 2nd of next month. The President is expected to speak on the defeat of terrorism and Sri Lanka’s future path.
The President’s visit to London which was scheduled earlier this month was postponed due to the inauguration of his second term of office in on the 19th. The President previously addressed the Oxford Union in 2008.
The President previously addressed the Oxford Union in 2008 and the topic of his address was “Strategy towards Empowering the Rural Economy of Sri Lanka”.
The Oxford Union arranges lectures of prominent persons from time to time on matters of strategic importance.
