Conservationists concerned about SC beach project

The Coastal Conservation League wants a state board to intervene in a beach project on Sullivans Island.
The group holds a news conference on Tuesday about the issue involving building a house on the beach front.
The league says a permit to pour sand to rebuild the beach was issued by the Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management after project opponents were assured they could later appeal any building permit.
But the league's Nancy Vinson says that hasn't happened and construction might mean people on the public beach would have to walk under the house because the beach has eroded.
The group wants the board of the state Department of Health and Environment Control to review the matter. Ocean and Coastal Resource Management is a division of DHEC.
