Columbia police have arrested 42-year-old Eric Lee McGraw in connection to a string of six armed robberies Nov. 15 through 18th.
McGraw was arrested the Wednesday before Thanksgiving for a Nov.13 purse-snatching where the unidentified victim was cut with a blade. Her injuries were not life-threatening.
After McGraw's Nov. 24 arrest, a search of his Richland Street home turned up clothing like that used by an armed robber in the commercial robberies - a black ski mask, white shoes and gloves - a statement from the Columbia Police department said.
Authorities had been looking for a suspect in a series of the armed robberies Nov. 15 of United 4 Corners (Harden Street)and Maurice's Barbeque (Elmwood Avenue) Nov. 17 of Devine Foods (Devine Street), Nov. 18 and 20 of the Staybridge Suites (Huger Street), and Nov. 22 of Maurice's on Elmwood again.
McGraw was being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Charges associated with the commercial robberies are expected.
