A judge has ruled an Aiken woman accused of killing her mother three years ago is not mentally competent to stand trial.
The Aiken Standard reported Tuesday that Judge Jack Early ruled that treatment has not made 24-year-old Christina Mavris able to participate in her own defense.
Authorities say Mavris stabbed her 55-year-old mother to death in their home in May 2007, then set the house on fire.
Experts say Mavris has a long history of schizophrenia. Her mother had previously called police after her daughter hit her with a board and a phone.
The victim, Dana Davis, was a teacher at Schofield Middle School.
