South Carolina authorities are investigating an accident on Interstate 95 that sent nearly two dozen people to the hospital.
Multiple media outlets report that a Greyhound bus traveling from Orlando, Fla., to New York struck the back of an 18-wheeler carrying logs at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday near St. George. Officials say one of the logs came loose and went through the windshield of the bus.
The Highway Patrol says the bus driver, 60-year-old Michael Ajrwelik of Jacksonville, Fla., was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The 22 passengers were sent to hospitals for examination. Authorities say the truck driver was not hurt.
Traffic was diverted Tuesday while lanes of I-95 were shut down for several hours.
