President Rajapaksa is due in the island this afternoon from London.
According to Government sources, a rousing welcome is arranged at the Katunayake International Airport by the Ministers, Government Parliamentarians and the United People’s Freedom Alliance supporters.
The President visited London to address the Oxford Union at its invitation. However, the Oxford Union later intimated to the President that the address had been cancelled due to security concerns. However, the President seized the opportunity to meet the British Defence Secretary Dr. Liam Fox and their discussions dealt at length on development assistance provided by the United Kingdom and the process of devolution of power. President Rajapaksa also met Parliamentarians of the United Kingdom and the European Union in London.
