Parliament told “Law will be enforced to letter against traitors”

Dec 3, 2010 10:07:09 AM - itnnews.lk

Chief Government Whip Dinseh Gunawardena has emphasized in Parliament that the law will be enforced to the letter, irrespective of the stature of any person who goes against the country’s territorial integrity and Unity. The Minister was responding to a query raised by UNP MP Jayalath Jayawardena in Parliament today.

The Minister said that only this motherland is left for them. Accepting bribes from the tigers, encouraging them and also holding talks with them is totally a breach of the Constitution. The Minister told the House that he would be moving a motion in this respect. No traitors will be permitted to win sympathy in the House. He emphasized that if he had held talks with the tigers he would not deny but admit it in Parliament fearlessly. But it is not proper to to have talks and dine with the tigers and denying it in Parliament. Minister Gunawardene urged the Speaker not to permit anyone to go above the oaths they had taken under the Constitution.
