Most of the civilians who left for India due to terrorist activities are ready to return to the island.
The United Nations Refugee Agency is observing a trend of increasing numbers of Sri Lankan refugees returning home from India compared with last year. UNHCR Residential Agent Jennifer Pagonis said there are approximately 100 thousand refugees. 1150 refugees have already arrived in Sri Lanka during the first eight months. However, only 846 refugees returned to the island last year. The Agency expects this upward trend to continue.
