The Naval and Maritime Exhibition got underway at the Colombo Lighthouse premises in Chaithya Road, Colombo, today.
It is being organized to mark the Diamond Jubilee of the Sri Lanka Navy. The opening of the exhibition took place under the patronage of Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne. The exhibition which showcases the strength of the Sri Lanka Navy is slated to continue until the 12th of this month. Contributions made by the Navy in routing terrorism and the strategies adopted are on display.
Naval Media Spokesman Capt. Athula Senerath said they had organized several programmes to mark their Golden Jubilee and the Exhibition is part of it. He said the exhibition includes educational stalls, naval and maritime history, sailing equipment tools, weapons and ammunition. He also said that visitors will be fortunate to witness spectacular live demonstrations by the Navy’s elite special forces.
Large crowds flocked to the exhibition premises which provides them an awareness of the Navy.
