Tamil civilians of the North and East as well as the Up-country claim that the President’s development programme is common to the entire island. Their villages are now experiencing development. They emphasized that a Tamil national cannot go against such a head of State. They expressed these views
“We strongly deplore the incident which the President had to face in London. He is a leader who ended terrorism. Future development was being carried out irrespective of communal differences. He is a person who is serving the entire nation. But unfortunately, certain Tamils in other countries cannot understand this. Due to actions of such Tamils, it is they in Sri Lanka who will be encountering hardships. As such, we call on them to understand this situation and contribute towards the development of the country”.
“Our President was not only serving the Sinhala community but was treating the Tamil and Muslim communities equally. Such a leader did not rule the country hitherto. We strongly condemn the incident the President had to face abroad.”
