Governor-elect Nikki Haley has chosen BMW spokesman Bobby Hitt to lead the state's job recruitment agency.
Hitt is Haley's first cabinet pick, a sign, she said, that economic development and the Commerce Department are her administration's top priority.
Hitt, 61, has worked for the German automaker since 1993. Hitt must be confirmed by lawmakers before becoming Secretary of Commerce.
Haley said she chose Hitt from four finalists because he was a "natural fit" in personality and philosophy, and felt the same urgency Haley did.
