Sri Lanka achieves another international victory. A Centre to train health professionals of the South East Asian region will come up in the island.
Minister Maithripala Sirisena, when he attended an international conference on climate change and health recently, put forward this request to the Ministers of the South East Asian region. He made such a proposal as the World community had highly appreciated the outstanding training given to health professionals in Sri Lanka. Accordingly, the World Health Oganisation had consented to developing the National Health Centre in Kalutara as the centre for training health professionals of South East Asian countries. WHO South East Asian Regional Director Dr Samlee Plianbangchang met Minister Maithripala Sirisena and had discussions in this respect. A group including Health Secretary Dr. Ravindra Ruberu was present.
