200 million rupees has been allocated to provide aid for the people whose houses have been damaged due to torrential rain. Minister of Disaster Management Mahinda Amaraweera said assistance will be provided for houses that are totally and partially damaged.
362 houses are totally damaged while 433 houses are partially damaged. The Minister said the Government has granted 45 million rupees to provide food and other essential requirements to people in the affected Districts. Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodippili said more than 130,000 people are affected due to the incessant rains. He said the Ministry of Disaster Management is continuing allocations for relief work while the Disaster Management Units are operating 24 hours a day.
