Public to be given an opportunity to view major power plants

The public will be offered the opportunity to view four major power plants in the country. The Ministry of Power and Energy said the public ca view the Kelanitissa, Victoria, Samanala and Wimalasurendra power plants from the 13th of this month.

The Ceylon Electricity Board has appointed Coordinating Officers to facilitate the to who turn up to view the power plants. The Ministry has informed that a date and a time had to be reserved for this purpose. Information can be secured by contacting the Deputy General Manager of the Kelanitissa Power Plant on 011 2437426 and 011 2423897. The contact number of the Deputy General Manager of the Samanala-weva plant is 011 2392248 and 011 2424365. To make reservations for the Victoria Power Plant the Deputy General Manager should be contacted on 081 2224568 and 081 2235431. Those who wish to visit the Wimalasurendra power plant should call the Deputy General Manager on 051 2232083 and 051 2232085 for reservations. The Ministry of Power and Energy informs the public that principals of relevant schools have to make a request at the school level for the students to visit the power plants.
