The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has said that retail shops that sell rice above the maximum price imposed by the government would be raided.
The CAA is to carry out the raids under the Cooperatives and Internal Trade Ministry.
The government yesterday imposed a maximum retail price for samba rice, which is Rs. 70. The maximum retail price for nadu, white and red rice is Rs. 60.
The Cooperatives and Internal Trade Ministry removed the price ceiling of Rs.70 per kilogram of rice on October 26 this year due to the decline in rice prices in the market.
