A 23-year-old man is facing seven years in prison in the shooting death of an off-duty Florence police officer.
Multiple media outlets report that Brady Johnson pleaded guilty Thursday to involuntary manslaughter.
Authorities say Johnson pointed a shotgun at 29-year-old Matthew Clayton's back in February and it went off. The plea means Johnson didn't mean to kill the officer.
A judge sentenced Johnson to the maximum of five years in prison for involuntary manslaughter and an additional two years for using a firearm while under the influence.
Johnson still faces a federal charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
