President Rajapaksa reviewed the international warships at the Colombo Port.
The Presidential Fleet review was held under President Rajapaksa’s patronage on the sidelines of the Diamond Jubilee of the Sri lanka Navy. War ships from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Russia, Thailand, Iran and China took part in the Presidential Fleet review while the Sri Lankan warship “Sayura” also took part in this event. The President viewed the warships from aboard a high speed Dvora boat where he was welcomed by the ships. Initially, he viewed the “INS Thalangani” warship from India.
Russa’s Admiral Vinogado, China’s Langsov, Pakistan’s PNS Sulficar, Bangladesh’s BNS Umar Farook, Thailand’s HMTS Chongburi, Iran’s IRIS Alvander and India INS Nishori, were the other vessels which were viewed by the President. It was thereafter the guard-of-honour of the Sri Lankan Naval Vessel “Sayura” was accorded to the President. First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, Diplomats of many countries, Presidents Secretary Lalith Weeratunga, Naval Commander Vice Admiral Tissara Samarasinghe and Chiefs of Foreign Navies joined in this event.
