President Rajapaksa has said that legislation required for the implementation of the Budget will be completed by March next year. He invited the Opposition for the review of the Budget at the Provincial level.
In his reply speech on the Budget in Parliament yesterday, the President said they were giving priority for development work. It is planned to complete the drafting of regulations needed for the implementation of the Budget before March next year. The first review of the Budget is intended to be started in March at the Provincial level. He said he was inviting members of the Opposition to join in this process. He called for the dedication of everyone to develop all villages.
The President pointed out that large allocations had been made to strengthen the rural economy. The “Gama Neguma” programme will be extended to cover every village and develop schools, electricity, irrigation, hospitals and livelihoods. 20 Billion rupees alone had been set aside for the development of roads at the Provincial level with the intention of making a noteworthy change in road development within the next two years.
