The Defence Secretary inspected a ceremonial Sail Past of the ships belonging to the international Naval forces off the Galle Face coast.
The Sail Past was held yesterday to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy. Eight international ships that symbolized the Silk Route depicting the relations Sri Lanka had with foreign countries were exhibited on the seas off the coast. The ships belonged to Russia, Thailand, India, China, Iran, Bangladesh and Pakistan. The Defence Secretary also inspected “Sayura”, Sayural, Suranimala and Jetliner ships as well as attack craft of the Sri Lanka Navy. Commander of the Army Lt. Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya, Navy Commander Vice Admiral Tissara Samarasinghe and Air Force Commander Air Chief Marshal Roshan Gunatilake along with high ranking Naval Officers of a number of countries also inspected the Sail Past.
