A South Carolina reservist is suing his employer saying the company is hurting his career because he took time off for military training.
The State of Columbia reported Sunday that 26-year-old Army Reserve Staff Sgt. Alan King has filed his lawsuit against Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Columbia, saying the company placed him on probation and transferred him to a low-volume store where he is likely to make less money.
But Goodyear attorney Ted Speth says King has not been demoted nor had his salary reduced.
Retired Army captain and former military lawyer Sam Wright says reservists and National Guard members are fighting to keep their jobs after being deployed as many as three or four times during wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
