Taj Airport Garden in Rs 1.5 b expansion

The owners of Taj Airport Garden, Seeduwa confirmed an investment of over Rs 1.5 billion for expansion and renovation with the tourism boom in the country. The expansion project will see the addition of a new 100 room wing to the hotel, doubling its current capacity. The hotel will be designed by world class architects with the expansion expected to set the benchmark for hotel standards in the country.
With all approvals finalized, the expansion project will commence early January with the target of completion in 2013. On completion the 200 room complex will compete with the best hotel brands, globally, a Taj Group senior official said. “Taj Airport Garden hotel has been in operation for over three decades and has continued to bring in high occupancy levels, even during the difficult years faced by the tourism industry,” the official said.
