The world is focusing on Sri Lanka which is marching towards a new economic era. The Managing Director of the World Bank is also due to arrive in the country.
World Bank Managing Director Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala will arrive in Sri Lanka on Friday on a two-day official visit. During her stay, she will observe development activities in Sri Lanka and the World Bank supported projects. She will be meeting with President Rajapaksa, the Central Bank Governor and other high ranking officials. She will also deliver a speech at a function to mark the 60th anniversary of the Central Bank.
The World Bank has provided large scale aid to Sri Lanka from the past. Analysts are of the view that the World Bank assistance will be increased with the visit of its Chief. World Bank Managing Director Dr. Okonjo-Iweala, was formerly the Minister of Finance in Nigeria.
