Charges were filed Tuesday in a separate case against a 29-year-old South Carolina man who's suspected in the disappearance of a Peru State College student.
Nemaha County prosecutors charged Joshua Keadle with three counts of first-degree sexual assault, with false imprisonment and terroristic threats. The new charges stem from an Oct. 31 incident.
Keadle was already in Nemaha County jail for providing false information and tampering with evidence in the disappearance of 19-year-old Tyler "Ty" Thomas. He remains in custody pending a total of $950,000 in bail. His next court date is Jan. 7.
His lawyer did not return a call Tuesday from The Associated Press.
Thomas was last seen Dec. 3. Authorities earlier looked for the Bellevue woman along the Missouri River, but have since officially stopped searching for her. The Nemaha County sheriff's office has called him a person of interest in the case.
