More Sri Lankan troops for peacekeeping in Haiti

Another group of armed forces personnel leaves for Haiti on a UN peacekeeping mission.

This is the third batch of the Sri Lanka Army Engineering Department which is undertaking this mission. The parade in view of the group leaving for Haiti was held at the Army Engineering Regiment Drill premises in Panagoda. Commander of the Engineering Centre Brig. Tissa Nanayakkara joined the event as the Chief Guest.

The United Nations frequently invites the security forces to join in peacekeeping operations in Haiti due to the discipline and efficiency of the Sri Lankan forces. 13 Army Groups are already serving in Haiti.
