The construction of houses for war heroes will be continuously carried out. 36 more houses are to be handed over to the war heroes.
The “Api Wenuwen Api” Fund has launched the programme to construct houses on behalf of the dead and disabled war heroes. It has been launched on a concept of the President and the guidance of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
In the first phase houses were handed over to homeless war heroes in the Kandy and Kurunegala Districts. The Ministry of Defence said 36 houses built in the Matara and Hambantota Districts will be handed over to the war heroes on Saturday. The Ministry has appreciated the public support received for the project launched to shelter the war heroes who are committed towards protecting the motherland.
