Dec 16, 2010 4:41:59 AM - itnnews.lk

President Rajapaksa has said that the responsibilities that should be fulfilled today should not be postponed for tomorrow. He stressed that the sole responsibility of the public servants was to serve the country and the people.

The President said the public service was a God’s service. Appointments were being granted from one corner of the country to another to serve the people. They should serve the people devoid of community and religious differences. The President said the tears of the people were wiped out of those who seek their assistance, they will be much satisfied. Officials should work from the bottom of their hearts. They should ask for themselves whether they had been fair on their part in imparting their duties. The President was confident that newly appointed officials would render an efficient service.

The President was speaking at a function Temple Trees. It was organized to handover appointment letters to 135 government servants who scored the highest marks in the 2009 open competitive examination of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service.
