A Beaufort man told a convenience store clerk he had a "good feeling" about a state lottery raffle ticket he had purchased, and after double-checking the winning numbers about 20 times, his feelings were validated.
The man said he had thought a winner had already come forward for the Nov. 16 drawing. No, the clerk told him. That wasn't true.
So the man retrieved his ticket from a drawer at home and checked it against numbers on S.C. Education Lottery's website. It was a match.
For having a ticket with the number 00165290, drawn Nov. 16, he will collect a $1 million prize.
The winner said he will use the money in part to pay off his mortgage.
