Sri Lanka which is embarking on a new programme to achieve economic development has drawn the attention of the World Bank.
Managing Director of the World Bank Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is arriving in the island today on a two day official visit. She will inspect the development work in Sri Lanka including the World Bank aided projects. The World Bank Managing Director will also holds talks with the President, the Central Bank governor and other high ranking officials. She will also deliver a special address at a function to mark the 60th anniversary of the Central Bank. World Bank is a major institution that provides large scale aid to Sri Lanka.
