South Carolina officials await the November unemployment report with hopes of another month of improved numbers.
Statistics on how many people in South Carolina were unemployed and looking for work last month will be released Friday.
The jobless rate for October was 10.7 percent, down from 11 percent in September. That also was down from 11.1 percent in August.
University of South Carolina economists said earlier this month that they expect job growth to be minimal through 2011 with most of the improvement in the Lowcountry and Upstate.
South Carolina has had a persistently high unemployment rate for most of this decade, peaking at 12.5 percent in January.
