TNA supports Government in improving livelihoods of flood victims

The Tamil National Alliance pledges its support to the Government`s Programme aimed at uplifting the living standards of the civilians of the North due to torrential rain.

The recently resettled civilians of Vavniya, Kilinochchi, Mulaitivu and Jaffna had to encounter severe hardships as a result of the bad weather conditions that prevailed in the last few days. A meeting was held to plan out the granting of relief measures for the affected families. It was attended by Minister Gunaratne Weerakoon and TNA Parliamentarians Mavai Senadirajah, and Selvam Adaikalanadan. The TNA Parliamentarians drew the attention of the President during the budget debate to the flood affected families of the North. The President instructed the Resettlement Department to provide immediate relief to them.

Parliamentarian Mavai Senadhirajah said the President had instructed to provide relief for the flood affected civilians. They are also prepared to support this programme. He said that they were prepared to visit the affected areas and support the initiative. He acknowledged the relief measures granted by the Government on behalf of these civilians.
