Parliamentarian, Specialist Doctor Sudharshini Fernandopulle has said that people should be take measures to prevent diseases by increased consumption of rice based food.
She said that by preparing short-eats using local ingredients, healthy food habits can be popularized. Adding rice flour to wheat flour is good for health. She said that the sugar levels in the body increases with the absorption of carbohydrates. Due to the fibre in rice flour the absorption is brought under control. Therefore the introduction of the short eats is highly important when it comes to the health of the consumers. She expressed this view while participating in a function to introduce a series of bakery products manufactured using rice flour. The shorteats have been introduced by Calton Group of Companies that received the award for the Best Entrepreneur in the Western Province. The Parliamentarian stressed the importance of manufacturing hygienic food using local ingredients.
