The local and foreign forces that support terrorism should be identified and defeated. Rev. Fr. Sarath Hettiarachchi stated this before the National Reconciliation Commission. The Commission appointed by the President to study the lessons learnt in the war and to make recommendations to restructure the future of the nation, met in Colombo yesterday.
Rev. Fr. Sarath Hettiarachchi of the Inter-religious Alliance for National Unity gave evidence representing a number of civilian organizations. He said that the foreign forces that obstruct the development of the country as well as those support the terrorists should be identified. Certain party activists who attempt to disrupt the development of the country due to their craving for power should also be identified. A legal base should be created to take action against them if they continue to do so.
The Cleric said that to stop the false propaganda being spread against Sri Lanka on foreign lands, patriotic Sri Lankan citizens living in those countries should be organized. He said that the defence forces of the Asian countries should come together to identify groups that work against the sovereignty of countries, help terrorists and make money through such activities in order to take action against them.
