The Government extends relief to families resettled in the North and who were impacted by floods.
15 trucks carrying food and other essential items were dispatched from Colombo today for the benefit of the resettled families in Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu and Jaffna Districts, and who were seriously affected by the recent heavy rain. According to the Ministry of Resettlement, the assistance is worth about 45 million rupees. Minister Gunaratne Weerakoon said a family will receive assistance to the tune of 4500 rupees. The Minister said that food including Dhal, Rice, Milk Powder, Sugar and Flour as well as other necessities such as mats, bed sheets and mosquito nets. Deputy Minister Vinaayagamurthi Muralitharan was among those present at the dispatch of goods to the North.
