Prosecutors say police are investigating threats against two witnesses in the trial of five men convicted of shooting an Orangeburg man two dozen times earlier this year.
The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reported that prosecutor David Pascoe said two witnesses had been threatened, but testified anyway.
A jury on Friday convicted the five Orangeburg men of murder, armed robbery and burglary in the March 12 death of Charles Pringle at his home.
Twenty-one-year-old Mario Shivers was sentenced to 50 years in prison.
Two brothers, 22-year-old Ralph Coleman and 21-year-old Christian Coleman, were sentenced to 45 years in prison.
