President Rajapaksa has said that the humanitarian operation has not come to an end although terrorism has been routed.
The President said they had succeeded in flushing out terrorism at Wellamulli-waikkal. But the humanitarian operation that was launched in 2006 has not come to an end. He said if a war was waged it would have come to an end after the death of the terrorist leader. But the humanitarian operation that had been launched is continuing. He said all work carried out in the North and the East comes under this operation until the bitter memories of terrorism and divisive thoughts are eliminated from the minds of the people and permanent peace is established.
The President expressed these view at a function held at the Sri Lanka Military Academy, in Diyatalawa. The event was organized in connection with the passing out of 253 Second Lieutenants. The President was the Chief Guest. 236 male and 17 female Second Lieutenants passed out. President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunga, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Army Commander Lt. Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya participated in the occasion.
