South Carolina's top prosecutor is making an announcement that could mark the official end to a water dispute with North Carolina.
Attorney General Henry McMaster is holding a news conference Tuesday about a development in the case.
McMaster in 2007 filed a lawsuit to stop a plan to allow two North Carolina cities to pump up to 10 million gallons a day from the Catawba and Yadkin river basins, both of which cross the state line with South Carolina.
A bistate commission has approved an agreement among the two states, a power company and a public utility. The states agree to reevaluate water sharing during drought times and to update a river basin study every 10 years. McMaster has said he expected the agreement to be finalized soon.
