The Kettharama Stadium is now ready to stage matches of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
There are only 59 days for the World Cup. It get off the grounds on the 19th of February next year. The Kettharama Stadium is being developed to stage some of the matches. Its infrastructure is being developed while modernization is being expedited under new technology. Arrangements are in place to complete the reconstruction with all modern facilities. The pitch is now being developed. All these activities are due to be completed before the end of this month. Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage inspected the Stadium today.
The Minister said that work on all grounds which will stage World Cup matches has reached the final phase. The work on all these grounds will be completed as scheduled. He assured that the work related to the Kettharama Stadium would be completed by the 31st of this month and thereafter, entrusted to the Cricket Control Board. He revealed that these venues were expected to be handed over to the ICC by the 15th of next month.
Sri Lankan Cricketers are already engaged in training at the Kettharama Grounds to successfully face the World Cup.
