Minister Bandula Gunawardena has said that priority will be given to graduates who have excelled in the related subjects when recruiting persons for the teaching service in future.
The Minister pointed out that based on the Mahinda Chintana – Extended Version, recruitments to the Public Service are being made from among Graduates of the respective fields. The human resources required for the Teachers’ profession are being selected through interviews and practical examinations, without limiting to results of examinations. The Minister noted that in future the Government has taken a policy decision to entrust the lives of the children to the Teachers after at least a one-year training.
The Minister was addressing a ceremony organized to hand over teaching appointments to 402 diplomates. 364 trainee teaching Science diplomates and 38 Sub Police constables who had been engaged in teaching in the North Central Province received appointments. They have been appointed to various parts of the country. The handing over of appointments took place at the auditorium of the Education Ministry today. Deputy Minister Vijith Vijithamuni Soysa and North Central Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanyake were among those present.
