Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne has pointed out that the prime objective of the Government is to bring about solidarity among communities.
The Prime Minister said that the Government was not prepared to treat any person, community or religion in a different manner. He considered everyone as Sri Lankans. He assured that the Government will do its utmost to bring about spiritual and economic development to live without experiencing any differences. These will not be done to dupe any person politically or achieve political mileage.
The Prime Minister was speaking at a religious ceremony organized at his official residence to mark Christmas. It was held under the patronage the Episcopal Vicar Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini. A notable feature was the conduct of a Carol Service. Deputy Minister Nandimithra Ekanayake and North Central Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake were among those who graced the occasion.
