Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa has referred to the need of a disciplined younger generation to build a virtuous society. He said that the Government has drawn special attention in this respect.
The Speaker said the country needed a well disciplined younger generation. It is only then that a disciplined society can be moulded. There are various communities in Sri Lanka. Also, there are various communities and those professing various faiths who are studying in schools. If it is possible to work in harmony with all of them and further maintain this brotherhood in society as well as in the work place, it would be easily able to maintain peace. This, the Speaker emphasized was what the students should develop during their studies.
The Speaker made these references during a ceremony at the Parliamentary Complex. It was held to distribute books and school gear required for next year. The event was organized by the Sri Lanka Parliamentary Employees Union for the 16th occasion. Books and school gear were dished out to 468 students from Grade One to 11. Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody and Acting Parliamentary Secretary General Neil Iddawela were present.
